Episode 3: August 31st, 2016

Justin Thomas poses with Erin and Claire on a city stoop for Wishbonafide episode 3

But soft! What light through yonder TV breaks! Well, something like that. This week we’re talking about the Bard and one of his most famous works, “Romeo and Juliet,” and Wishbone’s “Rosie, Oh! Rosie, Oh!” Get ready for some serious discussion of animal shelter care in  Wishbonafide Episode 3, and some not-so-serious discussion of adorable pup romance, with special guest, Justin Thomas!

Watch parts 1, 2 and 3 of the TV episode.

About Our Guest

Justin currently works for Major League Baseball as a Broadcast Event Logger and works in the field of sports broadcasting, but still keeps his theatre pursuits fresh. When not behind a microphone or on the stage, Justin makes too many puns, references far too many TV shows, movies and comic books, and writes his sci-fi novel (which will be finished… eventually). Justin would like to thank the Wishbonafide team for allowing him to be a part of this fun experience, and for letting him do something with his obsession with the works of The Bard.

Oliver Twist Recommendations

Book cover of Oliver Twist

Claire:

I am going to throw a novel in here to match Erin’s film and suggest Kidnapped by Robert Louis Stevenson. Another really excellent “boys’ novel” published periodically in a magazine called Young Folks in 1886. It’s basically a rad YA novel full of action and hardship, much like Oliver Twist, about characters adapted from real life people and stories in the aftermath of the Jacobite rebellion in Scotland. Nothing like a good read about people’s miserable lives getting more difficult!

Episode 2: August 17th, 2016

Claire and Erin pose with Ben Abraham for Wishbonafide Episode 2 on a city rooftop

Get ready for a bowlful of excitement and hilarity, but mostly confusion, in Episode 2 of Wishbonafide. In this episode we tackle Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens and Wishbone’s “A Twisted Tail,” where we get tangled up in Dickens, with special guest Ben Abraham!

Watch parts 1, 2, and 3 of the TV episode.

About Our Guest

Benjamin-Ernest Abraham is a freelance director based in New York City. He graduated from Loyola University Maryland in 2015 with a degree in Global Studies and a minor in economics. Somehow, he has found himself pursuing a life in the theatre, despite the fact that he’s in a tremendous amount of student debt for a degree that has nothing to do with it. When he’s not directing, Ben is usually found rock-climbing, reading, seeing even more theatre, or dreaming about going backpacking again. His favorite episode of Wishbone is “Digging up the Past.”

Tom Sawyer Recommendations

Book Cover of Tom Sawyer

Erin:

The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain. This book is a much more adult story about what Huckleberry pursues after his fun with Tom Sawyer. It is a lot more mature, but it is extremely thought provoking and represents an interesting view into the American South in the early 1800s. It is written by the same author, takes place in the same settling, and continues the story of some of the characters from Tom Sawyer. All of these reasons, plus the provocative story itself, make this book my recommendation if you want more like The Adventures of Tom Sawyer.
